Keep coming to help Joplin
May 28, while most people attending graduations and barbecues, members of the scout troop 35 (director of field service and member of President Jeff Doty, Jacob's life and Nick Mark Doty Scouts , myself, Jim and Mark Lesley Mark) led a U-truck and two trailers full of relief supplies in a central sensitization in Joplin, Missouri, to help victims of the tornado of May 22 We collected supplies Scout office in Belleville and, as expected, there was a massive turnout. Donations from Cub Scouts and troops through the Council of Lewis and Clark.
We arrived in Joplin and nothing could prepare us for what we have seen: rescue centers with volunteers everywhere, free food and water for workers and the organized chaos. Lorries, vans and cars made from around the country, local and out of state volunteers worked together (like those we met in Indiana who spoke only Spanish).
People were overwhelmed with grief, but also filled with gratitude and amazement at the incredible support they received. A woman was crying and hugging us, just because we were interested enough to come, but this is America, after all, and that's who we are.
Everyone was exhausted, but continued to work. Free Bibles, coffee and sharpen the saw was not in the same tent. We saw an RV with trauma counseling sign "and prayer what else can you say after that?
It was a humiliating experience of the endurance of the human spirit.
We ask you not to forget in the weeks, months and years of recovery ahead. A volunteer said the next weeks are crucial.
More efforts are organized here in our office to get involved please.

After a recent visit to our Fair Expo Center in Belleville, I was reminded again how uninviting parking areas are.
