Anchorage municipality sues federal government over Knik Bridge project
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The municipality of Anchorage has filed a lawsuit against the federal government over the proposed Knik Bridge project.
The city says if the bridge was built it would cause a big problem for the Port of Anchorage. The issue is the roads that would be needed to be built on the city side to get traffic to the bridge.
The Anchorage Daily News reported Friday that the lawsuit was filed this week in U.S. District Court in Anchorage. It seeks to have the court require the Federal Highway Administration to set aside its decision last December allowing the bridge project to go ahead.
If built, the bridge would connect Anchorage to the Mat-Su near Point MacKenzie.
